Argument in road ended in shooting, police said. When the victim died weeks later, the suspect was accused of murder.
A 23-year-old man is accused of shooting a man in the abdomen. When the victim died weeks later, the suspect was charged with murder.
On Feb. 18, police responded to a shooting in Martinsville, Virginia, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
Officers arrived and spoke to Ray Durflinger Jr., 42, and he had a gunshot wound to his abdomen, according to the sheriff’s office. He was taken to the hospital, where he remained for the following weeks.
Investigators determined Jacob Raleigh Robertson was at Durflinger’s home, where an argument happened near the road, according to the sheriff’s office. Police did not say what the argument was over.
During the argument, Robertson took out a gun and shot the victim, police said.
Robertson fled from the scene and was arrested during a traffic stop. He was initially charged with aggravated malicious wounding and a gun charge. Robertson was then released on bond.
On March 14, Durflinger died, according to the sheriff’s office. Robertson was then arrested and charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is being held in jail without bond.
