Woman reported missing for weeks in Virginia found dead, sex offender accused of murder
A missing woman was found dead earlier this week and now a 41-year-old man has been charged with murder, police said.
Clarissa Devon Jones, 27, was reported missing in early December in Virginia. Police said Jones was missing for more than two weeks when she was found dead in the 200-block of Trent serry Road in Lynchburg, Virginia, on Dec. 19.
Lynchburg police investigated and charged Leonard Eugene Blackwell Jr., 31, in connection with the homicide.
Investigators have not said how Jones died or what led them to charge Blackwell. They also did not release a possible motive.
Blackwell was charged with murder, concealment of a dead body, concealing or compounding offenses and three counts of failure to register as a sex offender.
He is now being held in a Virginia jail.
