Virginia man accused of gunning down girlfriend

A Virginia man was charged with killing his girlfriend in a mid-day shooting, authorities said.
The Rockbridge Regional Public Safety Communications Center received a 911 call about a female in the Hummingbird Lane area of Rockbridge County, Virginia, who had been shot around 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 10.
Deputies responded to the scene and found Katrina Leeann Dudley, 28, of Natural Bridge, dead from an apparent gunshot wound, according to the Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities said her boyfriend Jonathan Armstrong Watkins, 34, also from Natural Bridge, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and shooting within an occupied dwelling.
Police have not said what led to the shooting.
Watkins is being held at the Rockbridge Regional Jail.
