A man had threatened to kill his girlfriend before. Then in September 2020, he carried it out and killed the pregnant woman in front of her children.
Now, he will spend decades behind bars.
Recently, a judge in Virginia sentenced Kevin O’Neal Allen to 45 years in prison for killing Cansas Crotts, according to WDBJ. He previously pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the homicide.
In September 2020, police in the Lynchburg, Virginia, area found Cross dead in her home, according to WSET. She was shot and her four children were at the home at the time of the killing.
Allen was dating Crotts and was arrested at the scene, WSET reported.
Cross was two-and-a-half months pregnant when she died, according to the TV station. Allen had previously threatened to kill her, but this time he carried it out by shooting her in the head. Though, nobody has said what caused him to pull the trigger this time.

- He Said He Feared His Threatening Father-In-Law. So He Gunned Him And His Wife Down At a Family Cookout.
- A pregnant woman expressed a desire to leave her boyfriend. Before she had the chance, she was shot dead.
"The egregious act that Mr. Allen did to my daughter, you know, it's heinous," Jackie Crotts, the victim’s father, told WSET.
He added the children essentially became orphans with a parent in cuffs and the other dead.
"They essentially lost two parents that day," Jackie Crotts told the TV station.
Family members described Crotts as free-spirited and a pretty girl. The family added that she was loved by many.
Her relatives told WDBJ the sentence helped bring some justice in the case. Though they didn’t believe they would ever be full closure for the death of Crotts.
“I feel like there’s some justice. I don’t think there’ll ever be fully anything justified,” Melanie Hill, Crotts’ mother, told WDBJ.
