Shooting At A Pilot Travel Center Leaves 1 Dead, 1 In Cuffs. Another Suspect Remains On The Loose.
A shooting in a travel center parking lot left one person dead and a suspect facing a murder charge.
Police are still searching for a second suspect in the case.
Around 6 p.m. on May 1, police in Chesterfield County, Virginia, responded to calls of a shooting at a Pilot Travel Center. When officers arrived, they found one victim, who was taken to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The victim was identified as Keon A. Clanton, 35.
After the shooting, police responded to a nearby crash involving a suspected vehicle from the incident. One suspect, Darnell White, was taken into custody at the scene. A second suspect fled the area.
The suspect is a Black man who was about 6-feet-3-inches tall, wearing a white T-shirt and red gym shorts.
White was charged with second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is being held in jail without bond.
Investigators have not released a motive in the shooting.
