Police Find Woman With Bruises Head To Toe And Eyes Nearly Swollen Shut. Now, Her Boyfriend Is Behind Bars.

A West Virginia man is behind bars after police say they found his girlfriend nude with a bruise-covered body and eyes that were nearly swollen shut.

Alex Vagott, 49, was arrested in connection to the incident and charged with malicious or unlawful assault and battery.

Officers responded to 9th Avenue in South Charleston, West Virginia at approximately 5 p.m. on Jan. 16, when they received a call from a Georgia woman who said that her sister was in danger.

According to police, the woman told police that her sister's boyfriend was abusing her and that he sister sneaked away to call her sister for help while the suspect was downstairs.

When police arrived, no one answered the door, though officers could hear a faint woman's voice, a man's voice and loud sounds coming from the back of the home.

Police say that when they got inside, the woman came out of a room with no clothes on and covered in bruises head to toe. Also, police say the woman had open wounds on both arms and both of her eyes were nearly swollen shut.

The woman was then taken to the hospital, where officials told police she seemed to have several skull fractures and fractures to her ribs. Speaking with officers at the hospital, the victim told them that Vagott had thrown her against several pieces of furniture, ripped her hair out and punched her in the face, arms and torso several times that day and during the week.

Vagott was taken to South-Central Regional Jail, according to WSAZ.
