Homicide Victim Found Dead In A Ditch, Suspect Arrested After Day-Long Manhunt

A Wisconsin man faces a murder charge after a shooting left one person dead, officials said.
Around 11 a.m. on June 16, the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office responded to a ditch where a man was found dead. A passerbyer saw the victim and called 911.
The victim was later identified as Eddie L. Banks and he died from a gunshot wound, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators identified Philip R. Novak, 36, as a suspect and asked for the public’s help in finding him.
Police did not release a motive in the killing but said it appeared to be a targeted incident.
