A Wisconsin woman allegedly killed her boyfriend during an argument but claims she only “wanted him to get scared,” according to authorities.
Around 6:30 p.m. on June 10, officers responded to a call in Racine for a reported stabbing, the Racine Police Department stated.
Once at the scene, police found a 27-year-old man “laying on the sidewalk bleeding from his chest.” First responders attempted lifesaving measures and the victim, who was not identified, was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead, officials said.
According to police, a woman, later identified as 27-year-old Adela Gomez-Zuniga, confessed to stabbing the victim.
Gomez-Zuniga and the victim started fighting because he was drinking alcohol, even though he had been sober for a year, WITI-TV reported. The victim allegedly wouldn’t let her into the house and claimed she was cheating on him. She was able to get inside the home and they continued to fight about the cheating allegations, as well as who paid the bills.
Gomez-Zuniga claims the victim pushed her into a table, so she picked up a knife from the sink, WITI-TV reported. The victim allegedly taunted her and said she would never stab him.

According to police, she reportedly “stabbed him in the chest” and told officers she “didn’t take my pills today.”
The victim fled the home, but Gomez-Zuniga reportedly followed him because she claims he took money from her prior to the stabbing, according to WITI-TV.

Gomez-Zuniga told police, "I can’t believe [the victim] is dead. That was never my intention. I wanted him to get scared," WITI-TV reported.
However, she allegedly talked while in jail and said the victim “tried to take my money” and kill her, adding, “I hope he dies,” WITI-TV stated.
Gomez-Zuniga was taken into custody and booked into the Racine County Jail. She was charged with first-degree intentional homicide and is being held on a $500,000 bond, officials said.
