Police say a Harlem woman has been charged with murder in connection with the stabbing of her boyfriend — who identified her as his alleged killer before dying.
During the afternoon of May 12, Michelle Hernandez, 44, allegedly attacked her 47-year-old boyfriend Alejandro Santos, who stumbled out of their Harlem apartment and banged on neighbors’ doors, according to law enforcement officials.
When a neighbor opened their door, police said, Santos claimed, “She stabbed me…I think I’m going to pass out.”
Santos, who was bleeding from his chest and arm, then collapsed, according to court documents obtained by the New York Post.
Authorities said Hernandez emerged from the apartment and was telling neighbors that Santos had been stabbed and where the knife was — before she allegedly kneeled down and whispered in the victim’s ear.
According to police, Hernandez allegedly told Santos, “Don’t tell anyone who stabbed you or they’ll take me to jail.”
Santos was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Hernandez, who was interviewed twice by the cops, was adamant that Santos stabbed himself, officials said.
According to officials, when officers asked Hernandez about Santos’ dying claim to the neighbor, she alleged that he said he was going to tell people she had done it before stabbing himself.
Police noted a cut on Hernandez’s hand, and during a search of the apartment, they found security cameras and a pair of bloodied knives, prosecutors said.
On May 13, Hernandez was arrested and charged in connection with a domestic dispute.
She was booked into jail and was being held without bail. Her next court date is scheduled for May 22.

According to The Post, Hernandez and Santos met a few years ago while they were both living in a shelter. They moved in together about two years ago.
Since then, the couple had at least one previous incident involving Hernandez reportedly threatening to jump out of the couple's apartment window, court records show.
Other previous incidents for Hernandez include her kicking an 8-months pregnant woman in the stomach during a fight at the shelter and breaking another shelter resident’s arm in 2017. In that case, she was sentenced to two years probation, but later served 10 months in jail.
