Law enforcement officials in Florida say a woman remains hospitalized after her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend allegedly stabbed her.
On the evening of July 31, deputies responded to a home in Spring Hill after receiving a report of a possible stabbing, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
At the residence, officers located 22-year-old Sydney McKelvy suffering a stab wound to the chest.
During their investigation, authorities learned McKelvy’s boyfriend, Jeffrey Hildebrandt Jr., lives at the residence where the stabbing occurred.
Hildebrandt told investigators that he and McKelvy were “hanging out at the house” when 19-year-old Emily Morales, his ex-girlfriend, showed up unannounced to “create conflict," the sheriff's office said.
When Hildebrandt stepped away to tell his mother about his ex-girlfriend’s arrival, McKelvy answered the door, inviting Morales into the home, according to officials.
Morales “immediately became confrontational with McKelvy,” pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed her in the chest, the sheriff's office alleged.
Hildebrandt rushed to the kitchen, where he found his girlfriend with the stab wound. Police said Morales allegedly tried to stab Hildebrandt before fleeing the scene.
McKelvy was transported to a local trauma center, where she reportedly required surgery.

Police were able to locate Morales at her residence and she was taken into custody.
During an interview, the sheriff's office alleged Morales confessed to going over to her ex’s house to confront him, but she claimed she didn’t know McKelvy was also there.
According to officials, Morales claimed McKelvy took an “aggressive stance toward her,” so she pulled out the pocket knife and allegedly stabbed her.
